Harriet Seydel studied landscape design at The Art Institute of Atlanta. When she finished, she did not go to work at a large firm. She went home, joined her husband Brian, and started building something small and specific: a company that would treat every residential property as a design problem worth solving.That was 1993. More than thirty years later, the approach has not changed. Every project begins with Harriet walking the property and listening. Every plan is drawn by hand before it becomes a proposal. And every installation is overseen by the same team that drew the plan.Southern Landscape has never chased scale. The clients who find us are looking for a real designer, not a landscaping service. They want someone who will tell them honestly what the property needs, show them why, and see it through.
Not a project manager. Not a crew foreman. Harriet. She does the site visit, draws the plan, and is present during installation. If something needs to change in the field, she is the one who decides.
Our team is small. The people who installed your garden in April are the same people who will come back in October. They know the property. They know the plants. They know what Harriet intended.
We take on a limited number of new design projects each season. That is how we are able to do this kind of work.
